City Moves to Stage 2 of Water Conservation Plan

The City of Hudson Oaks has enacted Stage 2 (Severe) of its Drought Emergency/Conservation Plan.  In this period of extreme temperatures, the demand on the water system has been extremely high, creating a situation in which water well and tank levels cannot be maintained without immediate steps being taken to conserve.

Hudson Oaks water customers, both residential and commercial, are being asked to forego outdoor (lawn and landscape) watering on two days per week, Fridays and Mondays.   Utility officials are hopeful that this will allow the water system sufficient time to prepare for and recover from the naturally higher usage levels that occur on weekends.  Public safety officials are hopeful that this will avoid any possibility that low water tank levels would not support response to a fire scene within the city; especially as the Independence Day holiday looms in the midst of a very dry season.

Water Quality and Consumer Confidence Report

The 2008 Water Quality and Consumer Confidence Report are now available online by clicking the link on the right side of the homepage.  The City will begin mailing out the report June 20, 2009 to all Hudson Oaks water customers.  The Water Quality Report provides water customers information on minerals, chemicals, and contaminants that may be found in the Hudson Oaks water supply.

The Hudson Oaks water system receives it's water from two sources.  Ground water from the City well system makes up approximately 90% of the Hudson Oaks water supply and surface water from Lake Weatherford makes up the remaining 10%. It is important to remember that water is a natural resource and as such, conservation is extremely important.  If you would like to learn more about water conservation please visit the Water Conservation page on the City's website
