City Hall & Hudson Oaks Updates
January 29, 2026

  • Republic Services Update: Republic Services will attempt to collect trash today where road conditions allow, but service is not guaranteed. If roads are too slick for safe access, collection will be delayed until the next regularly scheduled pickup on Monday.

January 28, 2026

  • City Hall Update: City Hall will be closed tomorrow (1/29) due to winter weather conditions. City staff will be working remotely and remain available to assist as needed.

January 27, 2026

  • City Hall Update: City Hall will be closed tomorrow (1/28) due to winter weather conditions. City staff will be working remotely and remain available to assist as needed.
  • Road Closure Updates:
    • [4:00PM] North Oakridge Drive, from Oakey Trail to Inspiration Drive, is now open to traffic.
      • Please continue to use caution while traveling, as icy spots remain.
    • [2:00PM] Hudson Oaks Police Department has closed North Oakridge Drive from Oakey Trail to Inspiration Drive due to ice and hazardous road conditions.
      • Alternate routes: Drivers should use Thompson Road or Midway Road from Oakey Trail or Inspiration Drive to travel around the closure.
      • Please avoid the area if possible and use caution if travel is necessary. Updates will be posted as conditions change.

January 26, 2026 

  • Republic Services Update: Due to the forecast of temperatures staying below freezing and the accumulation of ice/snow Republic Services locations will remain closed on Tuesday (1/27). They will run normal trash and recycle routes on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
  • City Hall Update: City Hall will be closed tomorrow due to winter weather conditions. City staff will be working remotely and remain available to assist as needed.

January 25, 2026

  • Republic Services Update: Trash collection will be delayed by one day this week. Customers should place carts out on their adjusted collection day.

Extreme Cold Warning remains in effect until 9:00AM Tuesday.

Conditions: Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 10 below zero are expected across North Texas through 9:00AM Tuesday.
Impacts: Extreme cold and wind chills may result in hypothermia or frostbite on exposed skin if precautions are not taken.
Preparedness: Limit time outdoors. If you must go outside, dress in layers and wear a hat, face covering, and gloves. Check on vulnerable individuals and pets, and ensure adequate heating and shelter.

January 22, 2026 [2:00PM]
Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 6:00PM Friday through 12:00PM Sunday.
Conditions: Heavy mixed precipitation expected. Ice accumulations between one quarter of an inch and one half of an inch. Isolated amounts up to three quarters of an inch can't be ruled out. In addition, sleet and snow accumulations between 1 and 3 inches with amounts near or above 5 inches near the Red River are also possible.
Impacts: The strong winds and weight of snow on tree limbs may down power lines and could cause sporadic power outages. Significant ice accumulation on power lines and tree limbs may cause widespread and long-lasting power outages. Expect power outages and tree damage due to the ice. Travel could be impossible.
PreparednessHave an emergency kit ready in case of power outages. Check on vulnerable friends and family.Consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution. Take a winter storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains, booster cables, flash light, shovel, blankets and extra clothing. Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help you survive in case you become stranded. The latest road conditions can be found at drivetexas.org.

January 21, 2026 [4:00PM]

The Winter Storm Watch has been extended through Sunday morning.
Conditions: Moderate to heavy mixed precipitation expected. Total snow and sleet accumulations between 2 and 4 inches with higher amounts near and along the Red River. Ice accumulations between one tenth and one quarter or an inch (0.10-0.25) are also possible. The forecast amounts are subject to change as new data arrives.
ImpactsRoads, especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become dangerous. Significant ice accumulation on power lines andtree limbs may cause power outages. Extreme cold will become life threatening and likely damage unprotected pipes and put livestockat risk.
Preparedness: Monitor the latest forecasts for updates on this situation. Makewinter preparations to homes and businesses today or tomorrow!Have an emergency kit ready. Check on vulnerable friends and family.You should consider altering or delaying all travel plans. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution.

Conditions: Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 5 to 10 below zero possible. 
Impacts: The dangerously cold wind chills could result in hypothermia or frostbite on exposed skin if precautions are not taken. Extreme cold will become life threatening and likely damage unprotected pipes and put livestock at risk.
Preparedness:

  • Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside.
  • Make frequent checks on vulnerable family, friends, and neighbors.
  • Make winter preparations to homes and businesses before Friday.
  • Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.

January 20, 2026 [2:00PM]
A Winter Storm Watch is in effect from Friday afternoon through late Saturday night for North and Central Texas.C
Conditions
: Moderate to heavy snow, sleet, or ice are possible, followed by dangerously cold temperatures Saturday night through Monday morning.
Impacts: Road, especially bridges and overpasses, may become hazardous. Ice accumulation could cause power outages, and extreme cold may damage unprotected pipes and pose risks to people and livestock.
Preparedness: Monitor forecasts for updates, prepare emergency kits, winterize homes and businesses, check on vulnerable individuals, and consider delaying or adjusting weekend travel plans.

January 20, 2026 [8:00AM]
Potentially significant impacts to travel & infrastructure are possible. Plan ahead for travel impacts & power outages, and monitor forecasts in the coming days.In addition to the winter precipitation, this event will bring prolonged below freezing temperatures and dangerous cold temperatures Saturday night. Parts of the region won't get above freezing until Monday.
