Posted March 3rd, 2008
The City Council met on February 28, 2008 to consider and take action on the following items:
Update to Land Use Table
City Staff proposed changes to the Land Use Table in order for the City to improve its planning and development process. Staff felt as though the current Land Use Table did not address all of the needs and uses that the City may see in future development. Council Passed the Updated Land Use Table.
Amendment to the Landscape Ordinance
An Updated Landscape Ordinance was adopted that requires a minimum of 25% of a lot to be landscaped, places new requirements on parking lot landscaping, revises the plant material credits, changes to the irrigation requirements, and makes mandatory the replacement of dead plant materials used to meet the Landscape Requirements. Council passed the Updated Landscape Ordinance. Previously platted or developed single family residences are exempt from the Updated Landscape Requirements.
New Tree Preservation Ordinance
The City of Hudson Oaks has adopted a Tree Preservation Ordinance. The New Tree Preservation Ordinance does not require any notification or a permit to remove a tree located on a current lot used or zoned as single family residence. The New Ordinance requires a permit to remove a tree over 5” Diameter that falls into a protected class, or any tree over 6” in Diameter. Trees may be removed to install infrastructure such as roads, water lines, sewer lines, driveways, sidewalks, patios, pools, or to build a house as long as due consideration is given to save as many protected trees on the property as possible. Council Passed the Tree Preservation Ordinance.
Possible Park Amenities
Council discussed numerous options for the New Park located at the corner of Lakeshore Drive and Inspiration Drive. The amenities ranged from a basketball court to a football field. Council Instructed staff to look into the price and practicability of a basketball court, tennis court, and other park amenities.
Addition of a Part Time Internet Technology Position
Staff requested the addition of a part time position for Internet Technology. The Position will cost $6,000 per year and will work 20 hours per week. Staffed stressed the importance of a new position to assist with the transition of technology infrastructure from one location to two locations. With the new Point to Point network between the New City Hall and almost completed Public Safety Building, staff has enlisted the expertise of a technology specialist. Council passed the addition of a part time position.
Awarding a Bid for Building Inspection and Plan Review Services
The City went out for proposals for Building Inspection and Plan Review Services and has awarded a bid to Bureau Veritas (BV). BV will allow the city to take its permitting process online, where Builders and Developers will be able to see the current status of plan reviewing and inspections for all of their projects within the City of Hudson Oaks. BV conducts Plan Reviewing and Inspections Services for over 80 Texas Cities and the New Cowboys Stadium.
The Next Council Meeting will be held on March 27, 2008 at 7 PM.
