Water Bill Questions Answered
The October 9-November 8 water usage cycle marked the first time Dyegard and Deer Creek water customers were billed through the City of Hudson Oaks. The City also experienced problems with mail delivery of the bills for ALL water/wastewater utility customers. Here are responses to some of the Frequently Asked questions the City has received.
Q: Why didn’t I receive my bill until after December 1 if it is due on December 10?
A: The third-party vendor the City used got the bills out later than normal, in part because of the Thanksgiving holiday. (The City normally sends bills out on the 25th of each month.) Because of this mailing error, the City plans to extend the payment deadline by a week. Late bills will not be run until after 5 p.m. on December 18. This same extension will apply to ALL City of Hudson Oaks water customers, as well as Dyegard and Deer Creek customers.
Q: Why do the bills for Dyegard and Deer Creek residents have charges for more than 30 days of usage?
A: The City of Hudson Oaks, the Town of Annetta, and the City of Willow Park all operate on the same billing cycle. However, the transfer of ownership of the Dyegard and Deer Creek systems didn’t occur until October 1. Rather than having Hudson Oaks run each customer a bill for October 1-9 usage, forcing customers to pay one bill to Willow Park and another bill to Hudson Oaks in one month, the decision was made to roll that usage onto the next bill. So the utility bills customers in Dyegard and Deer Creek received last week have 40 days’ worth of usage on them, rather than 30. It was done to avoid inconveniencing the customers, and they were notified this was going to happen through a letter mailed to customers in October.
The “extra” ten days’ worth of usage charges show up on the bills as a “past due” amount. Be assured, NO late fees are being charged to customers for the October 1-9 usage. It was the City’s choice to roll that amount to the next bill and customers will NOT be penalized for that. “Past due” is simply the language the billing software uses to describe any water usage on the bill that is more than 30 days old.
Q: How can I determine what rate structure is being used to calculate my water bill?
A: City of Hudson Oaks and Dyegard water customers may find the City’s adopted water rate structure by visiting the web page for Water services. Deer Creek water/wastewater customers may find the Town of Annetta’s rate structure by visiting that city’s website at www.annetta.org and following the link to Frequently Requested Documents.
Q: Where do I send my utility payment?
A: 210 North Lakeshore Drive, Hudson Oaks, Texas, 76087
Q: If I live in Deer Creek or Dyegard, who do a write my check to?
A: All checks should be written to the City of Hudson Oaks.
