Volunteers Needed for Parker County Teen Court

Parker County Teen Court is seeking adult volunteers to serve as coordinators for various aspects of its program.

Parker County Teen Court offers a voluntary alternative to being sentenced by the courts for young people ages 14-17 who enter a plea of guilty or nolo contendere to Class C misdemeanor offenses.  The Hudson Oaks Municipal Court of Record partners with the Parker County Teen Court to offer teens an alternative means of adjudicating their cases.

The Teen Court involves sentencing hearings in which trained young people serve as prosecutor, defense attorney, and jury.  The program's viability is dependent upon participation from adult volunteers who coordinate and monitor jury service, community service hours, and more.  In order to participate, adult volunteers must be available to attend court sessions for the participating agencies, and those sessions are often held during the regular business day.  Hudson Oaks Municipal Court holds session on the second Tuesday of each month, beginning at 3 p.m. Many of the program's past volunteers have been retirees with an interest in supporting an important youth program in their community.

The Parker County Teen Court is currently seeking volunteers to serve as:  Teen Court Coordinators, Juror Coordinators, and Community Service Hours Coordinators.  Please see the attached files, which contain descriptions of the duties, responsibilities, and time commmitments for these volunteer positions.  Those interested in volunteering should contact Victoria Prescott at 817-313-8104 or victoria@rahenderson.com.
