In March of 2007, the City requested the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to conduct a speed analysis for US 180 from Lakeshore Drive to our western city limit to determine if the 55 miles per hour speed limit should be reduced to 45 miles per hour. Their final analysis determined that the speed limit should be reduced.

At the July 26th City Council Meeting, an ordinance was approved to reduce the speed limit from 55 miles per hour to 45 miles per hour on US 180 from Lakeshore Drive to the western city limit.

The Texas Department of Transportation will be reposting the speed limit signs on this section of US 180 within the near future. Flags will be mounted on top of the signs to warn drivers of the new speed limit. For more information, please feel free to contact the City at 817-596-4899.
