2011 Miles 4 Mammograms Includes FREE Concert
On Saturday, October 1, 2011, the Parker County Hospital District (PCHD) will host its Fourth-Annual Miles 4 Mammograms 5K/Fun Run at Gene L. Voyles Park in Hudson Oaks (201 N. Lakeshore Drive). This year, the 5K and 1-mile Fun Run will begin at 5 p.m., rather than in early morning. Immediately following the 5K and Fun Run, at 7 p.m., the public is invited to a free concert in the park featuring The Party Crashers.
The Party Crashers specialize in classic rock, dance, and party music, covering tunes from the 50s through the 90s. They are widely known throughout the North Texas area for playing fairs, festivals, night clubs and corporate events as well as serving as the opening act for bands ranging from Three Dog Night to .38 Special. They offer a high-energy performance that is sure to get people on their feet, dancing the night away.
Those wishing to register for the 5K or Fun Run should visit www.miles4mammograms.com. The concert in the park is free and open to everyone, regardless of participation in the run. Those planning to attend the concert should bring lawn chairs and/or blankets for lawn seating.
There will be some vendors on site for the concert. Picnic baskets and coolers are allowed, so long as food items and beverages are NOT in glass containers. Participants should also be aware that City of Hudson Oaks ordinances prohibit the use of any smoking materials in a City park and require that pets be restrained by a leash or pet carrier.
Proceeds from the Miles 4 Mammograms event benefit the Parker County Hospital District’s program to provide mammography services to the un- and under-insured residents of Parker County. Since 2008, PCHD has provided these important diagnostic services to more than 900 Parker County residents through this program, providing early detection so vital to successful outcomes for cancer diagnoses.
